Role : SAP Identity & Access Governance Lead

1. Governance:

  • Objective: Define Segregation of Duties (SODs) across all business functions.
  • Tasks:
    • Identify and define SODs for various business processes.
    • Determine the method to check if these SODs are being followed.
    • Set up alerts for violations of these SODs.
  • Requirements:
    • Identify logs and tables to check for SOD violations.
    • Develop an automated governance framework for monitoring SODs and sending alerts.

2. Control (Access Requests and Role Management in SAP):

  • Objective: Improve and automate SAP access management, linking with ServiceNow.
  • Tasks:
    • Build a Power App to allow users to raise access requests in ServiceNow.
    • Ensure the app integrates with SAP for user provisioning and access management.
    • Track SAP role assignments and user creations.
    • Define how Power Platform will connect to SAP and sync user data.
  • Requirements:
    • Determine the steps and processes for SAP role creation and user management.
    • Identify necessary SAP modules and how they integrate with Power Platform.
    • Ensure proper synchronization between ServiceNow and SAP.

3. License Optimization:

  • Objective: Optimize SAP license usage and avoid unnecessary costs due to underutilized high-privileged licenses.
  • Tasks:
    • Define rules (SODs) to monitor high-privileged license usage and ensure timely release.
    • Set up alerts for license releases when no longer needed.
  • Requirements:
    • Identify SAP modules and the process for license allocation and release.
    • Ensure the Power App integrates with SAP to track and manage licenses effectively.

Integration Requirements:

  • Power Platform & SAP Integration:
    • Consider Identity Access Governance (IAG) integration or OData integration for seamless connection between Power Platform and SAP S/4 HANA Cloud.
    • Assess which licenses are required for IAG integration and any potential integration restrictions.

Compliance Considerations:

  • External System Integration:
    • Ensure compliance when integrating SAP with external systems.
    • Investigate whether SAP enforces restrictions that could block or limit integration with third-party systems.

Key Points to Gather:

  • SAP Modules & Connections:
    • Identify the specific SAP modules that will be integrated with Power Platform.
    • Determine how to connect and sync data between these systems.
  • Licensing Details:
    • Clarify which SAP licenses are required for IAG integration.
    • Check if SAP’s compliance requirements pose any integration barriers.
