Role Purpose

We are seeking a CMDB Architect to lead the stabilization, governance, and maturity uplift of the CMDB on the BMC Helix platform, enabling reliable ITOM use cases such as Event Management, Impact Modeling, Root Cause Analysis, and Service Mapping.

This role is accountable for transforming the CMDB from a data repository into a trusted system of record, aligned to business services and operational processes.

• Establish strong CMDB governance and ownership
• Stabilize and enable ITOM capabilities (Discovery, Event, AIOps, Service Mapping)
• Align CMDB with ITIL v4 practices and real operational workflows

Key Responsibilities

CMDB Architecture & Design

• Define and maintain the CMDB logical and physical data model aligned to BMC Helix best practices
• Design CI classes, attributes, normalization rules, and relationship models
• Rationalize CI classes and eliminate duplication, orphan CIs, and unused structures
• Ensure alignment between business services, technical services, and infrastructure CIs

CMDB Governance & Maturity

• Establish CMDB governance framework (roles, ownership, stewardship, RACI)
• Define and enforce CI lifecycle policies (create, update, verify, retire)
• Implement CMDB health KPIs (completeness, accuracy, compliance, timeliness)
• Drive CMDB maturity roadmap (Baseline → Controlled → Trusted → Optimized)

Discovery & Data Integration

• Configure and optimize BMC Helix Discovery
• Define source-of-truth rules and reconciliation strategies
• Integrate CMDB with monitoring tools, cloud platforms, virtualization, network tools, and asset systems
• Validate discovered data against operational reality

ITOM Enablement

• Enable Service Modeling & Application Service Mapping
• Support Event Management, RCA, and Impact Analysis through accurate relationships
• Ensure CMDB readiness for AIOps and predictive analytics
• Collaborate with ITOM teams to ensure event correlation accuracy

ITSM Alignment

• Ensure CMDB supports Incident, Problem, Change, Release, and Asset Management processes
• Embed CMDB controls within Change and Release workflows
• Enable impact-based change risk analysis using CMDB relationships

Stakeholder & Delivery Leadership

• Act as a trusted advisor to IT, Operations, and Architecture teams
• Lead CMDB workshops and design sessions
• Produce CMDB architecture documents, standards, and operating procedures
• Mentor ITSM/ITOM teams on CMDB best practices
