Role Description
We require a System Architect to ensure the alignment of system components to the overall architectural vision that has been developed, and to update the architectural vision as required by evolving business requirements.The System Architect will require skills to facilitate architecture visioning, create user stories and prioritize stacks of requirements for sprint planning, review and backlog creation.The System Architect will also need to be a full-stack developer, and will be expected to create software using an agile development methodology, within a DevOps environment, that is based on iterative, continuous development, where requirements and solutions evolve through collaboration between cross-functional teams. Developed software must be based on a set of engineering best practices intended to allow for rapid delivery of high-quality software that aligns with business needs.  
Specific skills include the following:
  • Experience designing and leading implementation of complex systems based on microservices architecture
  • Technical capabilities including strong working experience in the following technologies:
    •  Hadoop/HDP
    • Java, Python and Node.js (MEAN Stack) development
    • Database programming / management (PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
    • Design Patterns
    • Web services technologies e.g. REST, JSON, Spring MVC
    • Integration with external and legacy systems
    • Multi-threaded programming
    • Dependency Injection e.g. Spring
    • Frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot
    • Front-end technologies e.g. AngularJS, JavaScript, HTML, CSS
    • Docker or other containerization
    • Authentication
  • Experience leading and mentoring development teams
  • Experience with development on commercial cloud and with big data projects. Preference may be provided to candidates with experience developing on Azure.
  • The ideal candidate will also have strong written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated through experience presenting to business leads.
  • Preference may be provided to candidates experience developing products and services for use by analysts and data scientists
