Position Description:
Agile Engineering is a group within Enterprise Computing ( EC ) responsible for architecting a container based platform This platform is widely used by a large number of internal applications. We are also looking to extend this platform to the Public cloud. This platform will also need to be ported to an internal secure network whose characteristics are similar to the Public Cloud The work will involve engineering a cloud agnostic, redundant, highly scalable infrastructure platform to on-board the internal MS applications and deploy to Public Cloud vendors like AWS, Azure and Softlayer In this role you will have the chance to utilize your deep virtualization and systems management experience, strong networking and storage infrastructure knowledge and work with a range of systems, tools, and scripting languages. You will operate in a highly complex, quickly moving environment with the constant introduction of new technologies.
Primary responsibilities: -
  • Working in a globally distributed team to provide innovative and robust Cloud centric solutions
  • Closely working with Product Management and Vendors to develop and deploy Cloud services to meet customer expectations
  • The integration and maintenance of several open source tools.
  • Performance analysis and tuning of the platform(s) for various workloads
  • Integrate, configure, document and deploy compliant infrastructure and supporting services in the Cloud platform
  • Working with the open source community, testing and certifying new upstream releases for internal use, and ensuring our patches are accepted upstream
  • Design, Optimization and Documentation of the Operational aspects of the Cloud platform - Troubleshooting problems, resolving root cause, and where possible, fixing the bug(s)
  • Collaborate with the Risk Management team to ensure necessary controls to Cloud services are deployed and tested
  • Working closely with customers to develop and deploy robust and re-useable configuration management components
Required Skills: -
  • Sound knowledge of server infrastructure, virtualization, and cloud computing
  • Good knowledge of security ( Kerberos, Policies, entitlements etc. )
  • Experience with architecting and maintaining high availability production systems
  • RedHat Enterprise Linux engineer level knowledge
  • Strong development skills in Python
  • Experience in Software Installation, configuration and Patching
  • Experience in SaltStack, Chef, Puppet automation / orchestration (or similar)
  • Knowledge of system monitoring in a cloud environment including cloud specific products and tools
  • Experience with Agile and DevOps concepts
  • Developing the monitoring architecture and implementing monitoring agents, dashboards, escalations and alerts
Desired Skills: -
  • Infrastructure deployment experience in the Public cloud ( preferably AWS)
  • Knowledge of security controls for the Public cloud ( encryption of data in motion/rest and key management )
  • Experience with distributed, parallel file systems and related tools (GPFS, CFS etc.)
  • Knowledge of Linux containers Experience in the financial industry
  • Bachelor degree in a related field
