Responsibilities 
  • Assisting with architecture of difficult, or complex solutions
  • Assisting with architecture of solutions using newer service/product offerings, and ensuring that shadow resources are up skilled as part the engagement
  • Support for high priority customer escalations, working with our support organisation \(GSS\) as required
  • Reviewing Architectural designs from the field for high\-value deals to minimise risk of delivery
  • Assist in the development of our consulting service offerings to ensure they address customer requirements, by working closely with GPTS who engineer our services IP and our services sales teams
  • Collate any product issues and work closely with the relevant product BU, who are responsible for the product development to ensure a clear two\-way communication between them and PSO
  • Establish and build a community within PSO around the assigned products areas to drive common understanding and foster better knowledge/experience sharing
  • Take responsibility for helping to drive and shape the enablement plan required, by working with our Global Field and Product Readiness \(GFPR\) team
  • Deliver a 50% billable utilization by proactively working with our Resource Management Office \(RMO\) to identify appropriate projects to engage on
 
Priority skills for this position
  • Multiple years of actively delivering IT infrastructure projects ideally based on VMware technologies\.
  • Multiple years’ experience in customer\-facing positions as a professional services consultant
  • Strong documentation and technical writing skills
  • Excellent and confident communications and interpersonal skills
  • Solid and practical knowledge of VMware vSphere and one of the following areas vRealize Cloud Management Platform/End User Computing and Mobility/Networking and Security
  • A high level of energy, enthusiasm
  • Currently holds the VCP 5\.x certification and ideally holds VMware DCA/DCD certifications
  • Industry certifications from vendors such as Cisco, EMC, Citrix and Microsoft
 
Desirable skills and experience
  • A breadth of experience across the core VMware Cloud Infrastructure Management stack however training will be provided
  • A broad range of vSphere and or vCD design experience in medium to large environments
  • Project management experience and familiarity with PRINCE2 or PMP frameworks
  • Practical knowledge of the ITIL framework
  • Experience delivering one or more of the following projects;
    • Server or desktop virtualization
    • Private/Public Cloud implementation
    • Tier1 application migration
    • Server consolidation or refresh
  • Linux/Solaris administrative knowledge
